    • What is the Marvy Finger Family Foundation Scholarship?

      The Marvy Finger Family Foundation Scholarship is an opportunity for Houston ISD graduating seniors who are interested in a career and technical education pathway. The scholarship covers the cost of a recipient’s tuition, fees, books, and program equipment for two academic years at an approved Houston-area Community College.

    • If I receive the Marvy Finger Family Foundation Scholarship which schools can I attend?

      Scholarship recipients may choose to enroll in one of two community college programs that include Houston Community College and San Jacinto College.

    • What kind of factors does this scholarship consider for selection process?

      Each application is evaluated based on the applicant’s interest in a career and technical program, grades, extracurricular activities, and financial need.

    • How may the scholarship funds be used?

      Scholarship funds can be used for required educational expenses.

    • What is NOT covered by the Marvy Finger Family Foundation Scholarship?

      The scholarship does NOT include transportation to and from school, food cost, or housing.

    • What do I have to do if I am awarded a scholarship?

      • Complete the approved degree/certificate program within two years of acceptance.
      • Submit a copy of your unofficial transcript at the end of each semester.
      • Submit a copy of your student account summary upon registration each semester.
      • Maintain your program required GPA.
    • How do I get an application?

      Once the application process is open, please return to the site and a link will be provided for you to complete the form online.

    • When can I apply for this scholarship?

      Graduating seniors can apply and submit applications by the deadline, which is Friday, March 29th, 2024.

  • Is there an interview process?

    Yes, scholarship finalists are subject to personal interviews.

  • What are the eligibility requirements for the Marvy Finger Family Foundation Scholarship?

    Students are eligible to apply for a scholarship if they meet the following minimum criteria:

    • Must be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
    • Meet federal definition of low socio-economic status or eligible for free or reduced lunch.
    • Must plan to enroll in a Career & Technical Education program at a local community college for the upcoming Fall semester.
    • Must have achieved a minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA).
    • Must complete the FAFSA application and submit SAR (Student Aid Report).
  • How long does this scholarship last?

    Recipients must enroll in a two-year workforce degree/certificate program. Students will be given two academic years to complete the program.
